A minute of silence passed today in Khanty-Mansiysk on the day of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The event took place at 14 hours 15 minutes in memory of those who died fighting the fascist invaders at the front and partisan detachments, who were tortured in captivity and dungeons. Ugra residents took part in the traditional flower-laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame.
It was at this hour Moscow time 80 years ago that the inhabitants of the Soviet Union were informed of the attack on the country by Nazi Germany. “On June 22, 1941, treacherously violating the non-aggression pact, fascist Germany and its allies launched a blow of unprecedented power on our country: 190 divisions, more than 4 thousand tanks, 47 thousand guns and mortars, about four and a half thousand aircraft, up to 200 ships, 5 million people. The first strikes were made by German aviation at dawn. Hundreds of bombers invaded Soviet airspace. After artillery and air preparation, the enemy crossed the State border of the Soviet Union along its entire length - from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. The Great Patriotic War has begun, "- under this message from the speakers, the Khanty-Mansians carried flowers to the memorial.
