This year the media expedition route passes through new regions of our country.
The expedition participants arrived in the hero-city of Donetsk. Here the media volunteers were welcomed by representatives of the Donetsk branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. Together they visited memorable places, laid flowers at the Memorial to the soldiers who liberated Donbass and honored the memory of the heroes.
The participants of the media expedition visited the “Alley of Angels,” a memorial complex in memory of children who died during the war in Donbass. The participants honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence.
Then the media volunteers went to Savur-Mohyla, a monument to the heroic history of Donbass.
During the Great Patriotic War many bloody battles were fought for this legendary peak from July to August 1943. During the fierce battles for possession of the key position the Red Army soldiers, showing incredible fortitude and courage, broke the resistance of the fascists, took the hill and consolidated on it. After the war, a majestic monument dedicated to the exploits of Red Army fighters and commanders was erected here. In 2014, during the hostilities in Donbass, the memorial complex was almost destroyed.
In 2022, the stele, four pylons and the figure of a Soviet soldier were restored by the forces of the Military Construction Complex of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Russian Military Historical Society.
The participants of the media expedition admit that the memorial left an indelible impression on them.
