Victory volunteers create an electronic archive of veterans' memories
Victory volunteers are working on the creation of the largest archive of family documents, photographs and video memoirs dedicated to World War II and the Great Patriotic War. The project is aimed at preserving the historical truth and increasing the level of knowledge of the inhabitants of Russia and other countries about the feat of the Soviet people. “In our country, memory is very sensitive. And various organizations have been collecting video memoirs of the Great Patriotic War veterans for many years. More than 10,000 of these memories are stored in our Movement alone. But, unfortunately, there is no single resource where you can turn in order to further use these video memories in a convenient format, for example, to compose lessons at school. In addition, we have very little evidence of those people who currently live on the territory of other states. We propose to join forces and create such an international archive. The portal that we are developing now will start working next year, ”shared Olga Amelchenkova, leader of the Victory Volunteers. Anyone can join the creation of a unique archive and tell about their relative who survived the war. To do this, it is enough to send materials to the mail zabotaoveteranah@yandex.ru together with the veteran's questionnaire, consent to the use of the image, as well as to the processing of personal data. All collected materials will be posted on the site, which is now preparing for launch.
