Born in 1910 in the village of Shamurino, now the Almenevsky district of the Chelyabinsk region. Before the war, a labor settler I.S. Kalinin lived in the village of Zaryam, Surgut region and worked as a hut. Drafted into the ranks of the Red Army by the Surgut district military commissariat in August 1942. His wife, Anastasia Andreevna Kalinina, and three children remained at home. Combat path: he was a rifleman of the 1317th rifle regiment of the 65th army, fought at Stalingrad. On January 1, 1943, he was wounded and sent to the 489th Surgical Field Mobile Hospital, where he entered on January 13. Two days later - January 15, 1943 - Ivan Stepanovich Kalinin died of his wounds. Buried in the Stalingrad region.
