The renewed Memorial of Glory was opened for visits in Surgut

Residents of Surgut will now be able to read 288 more names on the plaques of the Memorial of Glory. It was possible to establish local residents who did not return from the front of the Great Patriotic War thanks to the work of local historians, search engines, students of city universities.
“The opening of the renovated memorial is a significant event for the entire city. Now the names of the heroes are forever inscribed in the history of Surgut. 1345 of our fellow countrymen gave their lives for their Motherland, died during the Great Patriotic War. I am sure that we will be able to preserve this memory and pass it on to our children and grandchildren, as well as the understanding that unity is our strength, "said the head of Surgut, Andrey Filatov, at the opening of the complex.
Earlier RIC "Ugra" reported that the work on the delivery of the Memorial of Glory was delayed due to cracks on the stone tiles. The contractor figured out how to fix them, but because of this, the work ended not in September, but by November.
Note that on the new slabs, space was left for the names of the front-line soldiers-Surgut, who can still be found by search engines and local historians.
