During a working trip, Ruslan Kukharuk, Acting Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Ugra, was presented with the possibilities of several objects of historical significance in Surgut.
The first cultural object is the Memorial of Glory, during which Ruslan Nikolaevich laid flowers at the stele erected in memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland. The complex includes memorials, structures reflecting the history of Surgut. At the memorial stele there are plates with the names of those who died during the peasant uprising of 1921, as well as plates with the names of front-line soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. The Eternal Flame has been burning on the memorial since 1975.
The deputy head of Surgut, Anna Tomazova, said that the military-patriotic project “Three Battlefields of Russia” is operating in the city. “The XII season of the cultural and educational project has ended, which is dedicated to the study of three important events in the military history of Russia that influenced the fate of the country. For the first time, kindergarten students joined the project,” the deputy head of the city of Surgut stated.
Residents of Surgut shared their practice of military-patriotic education at the Russian level. The project is recommended for distribution in the country.
The deputy head of the city of Surgut drew attention to the fact that the city Administration focuses on the fact that residents of the city can study history not only in the museum, but also on the streets of the city. “For the anniversary of the city, we decided to fix the date with a commemorative sign with the text of the royal decree, which served as the normative legal act of the foundation of the city,” she commented on the sculptural composition created with the participation of students of Surgut State Pedagogical University.
The memorial sign “Surgut Kremlin” is installed at the location of the first Surgut fortress. The composition of the sign includes a black fox, fish and a fragment of the Surgut Kremlin, as well as a scroll, the heraldic symbol of the city, with a quote from the decree of Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich. The memorial sign was made by sculptor Ivan Kachesov.
Ruslan Kuharuk noted the importance of such an approach in urban planning practice. “When an object is supplemented with specific content, people’s worldview and attitude to life change. The participation of students in this project filled it with meaning, which was seen in this historical fact by those who today contribute to the development of the city, the district and the country, saw the connection of history with modernity and the future of the city,” the acting Governor said.
The next point of the visit to cultural sites was the house of merchant G.C. Klepikov, the only monument of history and culture in Surgut at the end of the XIX century. According to Marina Selyanina, director of the Surgut Museum of Local Lore, various events for children and adults are held in the merchant’s house.
“We hold children’s parties, weddings, photo shoots, a photo studio is working, and costumes of that time are in demand. The townspeople give us many old things that become part of the interior of the house. One of the old-timers brought the Gospel of 1840, which, as we assume, was in the Trinity Cathedral. We have an Oktoih, a publication that is the same age as the city. Most of the items have been restored, some exhibits are wooden toys in the style of that era, benches in the courtyard were made by students of a correctional school with in–depth work training,” Marina Selyanina explained.
Ruslan Kuharuk highly appreciated the opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of time. “The concept is good. It is clear that the house lives not only in history, but also in modernity.”
