He will celebrate another 80th anniversary on December 5 - the beginning of the Red Army's counteroffensive near Moscow. On the same day, December 5, he turns 100!
Mikhail Vorobyov was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army in March 1941, and began serving in the 93rd separate anti-aircraft artillery battalion of the Kiev Special Military District. He took the oath on May 1, 1941 on the main street of Kiev, Khreshchatyk, on the same day he took part in a military parade.
During the Great Patriotic War he took part in the battle for Moscow, in the tank battle at Prokhorovka on the Kursk Bulge, in the Korsun-Shevchenko and Kirovograd operations, in the liberation of the cities of Kaunas and Vilnius.
He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, two Orders of the Red Star and many medals. Major retired.
