Khanty-Mansiysk brought together participants of the International Art Residence of Folk Art and Design from China, Belarus, Uzbekistan

From 24 to 25 May, the International Art Residence of Folk Art and Design was held in Khanty-Mansiysk under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO. The project brought together more than 150 participants from China, Mongolia, India, Uzbekistan, Belarus, regions of Russia and municipalities of Ugra.

The guests will see the works of professional and novice creators: artistic reconstruction of costumes, collections of those who integrate traditions into modern life, as well as clothes in which designers reflect the industrial heritage of their regions.

Designer Mokhinur Komolova is working on creating a collection of clothes by a joint team of artists from Ugra, Udmurtia and Uzbekistan. The collection will be presented on the sidelines of the IV Eurasian Women’s Forum.

“The guys are creating in completely different directions. Someone studies the canons of artistic culture and creates clothing collections based on them. Some craftsmen presented a traditional costume. Someone showed a modern interpretation of the traditions of folk art. And completely innovative, experimental collections that visually re–read the projections of the industrial wealth of Ugra, including oil, circumpolar minerals and stones in new fabrics,” Ksenia Ilauski, art critic, artistic director of the Center for Folk Arts and Crafts of Ugra, a member of the Eurasian Association of Women Regional Leaders, shared.
