Born on January 14, 1922 in the village of Shchekurya (now Berezovsky district) in the family of Alexei Grigorievich and Sevra Semyonovna Arteev. Before the war, Vasily Alekseevich worked in reindeer husbandry. He was drafted to the front in 1942. Senior Sergeant VA Arteev was a machine gunner, squad commander. On February 15, 1943, he was seriously wounded in both hands. On July 9, 1943, he was wounded in the left leg. Awarded with the medal "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945." Demobilized on February 14, 1949. Worked on the Stalin collective farm. In 1959 Vasily Alekseevich got married from marriage and had a son, Aleksey. He passed away on August 16, 1994, was buried in the village of Shekurya.
