Born in 1917 in Surgut, graduated from an 8-year school. In 1938 he was called up for military service in the ranks of the Red Army. He served in Vitebsk, was demobilized in 1940. In July 1941, V.M. Pankin was drafted into the army and sent to the front. Combat path: as part of the 84th rifle division took part in the battles near Leningrad. Died on October 24, 1941, buried near the village of Sukha Niva, Leningrad Region.
