The initiator of the project is Ivan Prokopyevich Zakharov, a journalist and ethnographer from Surgut. The words are carved on the monument: “2615 of our fellow countrymen went to the front during the Great Patriotic War from the Surgut pier during the Great Patriotic War, and 1240 of them did not return. Eternal glory to them! " A significant part of the monuments in the towns and villages of the district were erected for the 30th and 40th anniversary of the Victory (1975).
