Evstafiev Stepan Olimpievich

Born on January 7, 1924 in the village of Shapsha (now the Khanty-Mansiysk district of the Tyumen region). In 1942 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. He completed his initial military training in Berdyansk and graduated from a sniper school. Combat path: in December 1943 S.A. Evstafiev was sent to the Western Front in the artillery regiment of the 4th Ukrainian Front, where he served as a scout. After the hospital for a leg wound, he was appointed telephone operator, scout, assistant gunner of the 76 mm cannon, fought Romania, Austria, took Vienna. He fought in the Carpathians. In March 1943 S.A. Evstafiev was wounded in the leg, he underwent rehabilitation treatment in a hospital in Tambov. Awards: Order of the Patriotic War, II degree; medals "For military service", "For the capture of Vienna." In 1947 S.A. Evstafiev returned to the village. Shapsha. He worked at Zenkovsky butter plant as a laboratory assistant, foreman, acting director. Then he worked as a foreman of fish production, a caretaker, a fur breeder at the collective farm named after Chapaev (village Zenkovo) until his retirement in 1979. Since 1988, S.А. Evstafiev lived in Uray. He died on July 11, 2003, was buried in the city of Urai.
