On the Day of the Unknown Soldier, residents of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug joined the international action and wrote a test on the history of the Great Patriotic War. It is initiated annually by the Youth Parliament under the State Duma.
30 questions about the events of the Great Patriotic War were prepared by the Military University of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
Residents of Khanty-Mansiysk tested their knowledge of the history of the Great Patriotic War on the grounds of schools No. 2 and No. 8, as well as online on the project website. Each participant of the action received a certificate.
The memory of the unknown soldier was honored in other cities of Ugra as well. Thus, employees of the Patriot Center for Children and Youth Technical Creativity and the commanders of the search detachments of Nizhnevartovsk laid flowers at the memorial to the Soldiers-Compatriots Who Died During the Great Patriotic War.
Recall that the Day of the Unknown Soldier began to be celebrated in Russia since 2014. The initiative to establish it was made by members of social movements looking for the remains of dead soldiers and perpetuating their memory.
For this day, a special date was chosen - December 3. On this day in 1965, when a quarter of a century of the defeat of the Nazi invaders in the battle near Moscow was celebrated, the remains of an unknown soldier who died in the defense of the capital and was previously buried in the Zelenograd area were transferred to the Alexander Garden in front of the Kremlin wall.
