Medvedev Stepan Prokopyevich

Born on May 2, 1925 in the village of Pershino, now the Uvat District of the Tyumen Region. As a child, he moved with his parents to the village of Romanovskaya Polovinka, Surgut district. In May 1944 he was drafted into the army. Combat path: at the front was a sniper of the 352nd Infantry Division. April 12, 1945 S.P. Medvedev was wounded and returned to duty after treatment. On May 4, 1945, Stepan Prokopyevich, in the battle for the settlements of Hungary - Yakfa and Urajfalats - went ahead of his unit and killed five German soldiers from a sniper rifle. Awards: medals "For Courage", "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945." After demobilization in 1948, Stepan Prokopyevich returned to his native village of Pershino. He worked as a hunter in the Zagotzhivsyryo office. In 1949 he married Tamara Petrovna Batalina. In 1952 he was elected chairman of the collective farm "Lenin's Way". After the merger of nearby collective farms, Stepan Prokopyevich became a fishing foreman. He died on July 26, 1956. He was buried in Surgut at the city cemetery.
