Born on March 22, 1921 in the village of Shchekurya (now Berezovsky district) in the family of Timofey and Alexandra Yakovlevna Vokuev. The family was large: Andrey, Alexander, Galaktion, Fedor, Isaac, Gabriel, Dmitry and Anna. In 1940, the Berezovsky RVK was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. He graduated from the Omsk Infantry School and arrived at the front as a communications officer. Senior Lieutenant G.T. Vokuev participated in battles as part of the 594th Infantry Regiment of the 207th Red Banner Pomeranian Infantry Division as commander of a mortar platoon.
